Adult Baptism

Adults (from the age of 16 upwards) are baptised by a bishop, and usually then confirmed (adult commitment) by the bishop at the same service. A bishop joins us once a year to celebrate our Patron Saints Day, in July. So adult baptism and confirmation only takes place once a year on that day.

The Parish Priest will lead the candidate through a series of weeks of learning what it is to be baptised and confirmed in the weeks preceding the baptism and confirmation service.

It is a requirement that the candidate attend church services every Sunday, in the 6 months prior to the Baptism, unless there are extraordinary circumstances, and they must keep in contact with the Parish Priest to arrange times for the preparation sessions and church attendance.
